In-home, Lifestyle Newborn Sessions
Do you ever wish that you could pause time?
If youβre anything like me, you do.
Unfortunately (and this may come as a shockβ¦) I canβt stop time for you. But I can preserve your memories. I can be a witness. I can stand with the family youβre building and watch as you navigate those first days with a newborn, as your kiddos meet, as you laugh, and stumble, and lean into parenthood. I can capture these moments with a trained, artistic eye, some humor and a bunch of patience.
These days will disappear just as quickly as they arrive, but listen when I tell ya: the loss of the sweet, enchanting, sleepless, new baby days will sting so much less when you can look through the images from our time together. First looks, tiny fingers, sleeping eyelashes, dream smiles, little legs, hungry mouths, and yes⦠even the chaos, the uncertainty, the big, big-sibling feelings⦠all of that good, real-life stuff will come flooding back as you look through your photos.
There is peace that comes from knowing you have invested in preserving your story. I canβt wait to prove that to you.
How it works
-
Reserve your spot
If youβve made it this far, chances are youβre feeling drawn to the idea of capturing your life with a new baby in an authentic and meaningful way. When youβre ready to book, securing your spot is easy - just select the month that is your best guess, Iβll add your due date to my calendar, and send along some session details.
-
Settle in
Bringing home a newborn is a beautiful, overwhelming, and transformative time. While other photographers might want you to have your baby ready for photos in the first few days, I believe in capturing these incredible moments without the intense pressure. Thereβs no rush. Once you're feeling settled, well, and ready to move forward, weβll finalize a date and time, making sure everything works perfectly for you and your family.
-
Session time
On the day of the session, Iβll come to you and join you in your home. Those early weeks with a newborn are often a blur, and I approach the session with patience and care. Newborn sessions are a relaxed pace and are typically about 3 hours long, allowing us plenty of time to capture quiet snuggles, spontaneous moments, the nursery you worked so hard on, and all the little details that matter so much.

You are welcome to book as soon as you know youβd love to schedule a newborn session with me! Just select the month youβre estimating our session will be in, and weβll go from there, finalizing our day and time once baby is here and youβre ready to solidify a plan.
In terms of timing: Iβm a lifesyle newborn photographer, so I don't fall into the "must photograph newborns as soon as possibleβ camp. Since there's no crazy posing involved, and I don't need baby to be as sleepy as posed newborn photographers would, there is really no rush. And because family will be in a lot of the photos, I prefer to wait until you're all feeling well and settled, so I leave dates/timing up to you.
I typically schedule newborns on weekday mornings, 9am/9:30am/10am are great start times, but I'm flexible!
Newborn sessions are a very relaxed pace and they typically take about 2-3 hours, allowing for plenty of feeding breaks, changing breaks and parent snuggles.

To maximize your comfort, and because I am a lifestyle newborn photographer (not a prop/posed newborn photographer), LSP Newborn sessions take place in and around your home, allowing for plenty of feeding breaks, changing breaks and parent snuggles, but mostly because this allows me to document this new version of your family as it is right now - the nursery you worked so hard on, the place you call home, your pets, plants, pillows and the little nooks and people that mean the most to you.
As an alternative, you're welcome to choose to come to my beautiful, bright, natural light studio in downtown Rochester.

I would suggest having baby in a simple, well fitting, neutral onesie for when I arrive. I always gravitate toward simple, even just baby in a diaper is cute to capture those tiny arms and legs.
For parent outfits, my only suggestion is to wear something you're comfortable in, if you feel like yourself in it, it's the right choice.I know styling yourself in a postpartum haze can be difficult. These sessions are about documenting connection, not perfection, and hopefully that brings you some peace.
If you think you need more help with styling, I totally get it- I suggest connecting with local stylist Vivien Reed.
